Interracial dating challenges..

I have been in a relationship with a white guy for 19 months. Things were a.o.k, until recently when he told me we could never be serious because I am black and his family would never understand. After, 19 months I thought we were already "serious". I know there is alot of love there and he does not want to end our"faux" relationship, but am I just wasting my time or should I give him time to come to his senses and grow a pair?

My advice:

Hi Angie,

I feel for you. You've invested a lot of time with this man, and I'm sure it doesn't feel good to hear that he has no intentions of taking your relationship to the next level.

There may be love there, but the question at this point is where or not he's in love with you. Putting race aside for a moment, a man who is in love with you introduces you to his family way before the 19 month mark. A man who is in love with you stands up for you to his family.

I've dated men of all races and I can tell you that there are plenty of good guys out there who would be happy to get into a serious relationship with you.

Do you believe that you deserve a man who is proud of his relationship with you? I do, and that's why I'd say to let this man go. I believe that you know this man isn't right for you, and I know that you can do better. Find yourself the kind of guy who won't use his family as an excuse for not moving things forward with you.

I hope this helps!
